好看吗(nice?) explores the concept of privileges through empathising blindness with study of colours in food presentation. Part of fine dining experience is aesthetic plating, but people with visual impairment, for example colour blindness, will not be able to enjoy the full experience and in the case of this painting, they will not be able to see the word 好看吗 on the canvas. By using the Ishihara colour blindness test as a visual reference, the artist also hopes to give viewers with normal vision a metaphorical experience of being blind. Multiple green and red dots create a distraction from the “food”, which is the focus, as its textures and forms get overwhelmed and lost in the dots.
